High School Secrets

T and D Tattoos and Body Piercing were well known by the high school kids. T and D had not ascended to the students “A” list of tattoo parlors as a result of their quality work or the cleanliness of their facility. The main and in fact only reason T and D had moved into the number one spot was because they would waive the parental consent form for the appropriate fee.

Tiffany was the first to question the wise-ness of following through with the pact she, Stacy and Lora had made as seventh graders. The pact called for all of them to get tattoos as soon as the last one turned fifteen, which in this case was Lora—they had reopened the pact as eighth graders and agreed to get belly rings instead as tattoos were now seen as stupid.

The thought of having a metal pin shoved through her bellybutton made Tiffany sick to her stomach. “I don’t think I can go through with it” said Tiffany. “I knew you would be the first to back out “Lora retorted. “You’re going to be the first adult ever to die a virgin.” Stacy was also not to keen on the idea of having a metal rod stuck through her navel. “What if the place is gross or they won’t let us get it done?” asked Stacy. “I heard they even let a sixth grader get a tattoo so I’m thinking we are a go.” said Lora.

The front of the building was tattered and marked with new and old blue and red graffiti. The areas surrounding the walks had sparse reminisces of grass that was littered with old wrappers and cigarette butts. Several kids that looked way younger than us walked out of the shop as we walked in. “What can I help you girls with?” a man asked from behind the counter. “How much to have your belly button pierced?” asked Lora. “Fifty-two dollars and proof that you are eighteen or have a parental consent form signed by your parents.” replied the man from behind the counter. “How much dose it cost if we don’t have the parent thingy?” Lora asked. “Well, in that case the cost would be an even one-hundred dollars.” the man relied. “I’ll go first” said Lora, as she dropped five twenty dollar bills on the counter and walked to the backroom.
